Arnold no. 2500 US Military Jeep Tin Lithograph Windup ca. 1950’s German Toy with Box *SOLD*

Arnold no. 2500 US Military Jeep Tin Lithograph Windup ca. 1950’s German Toy with Box

This is a ca. 1953 tin, lithographed J-2500 US Military Jeep manufactured by Arnold Co. of Nuremberg, Germany.

Original slightly dusty condition with beautiful tin toy detailing just post-war.  Strong stickers with little to no wear.  Box is original with heavy shelf wear and fragile flaps as shown.

Windup key included and with turns at the bottom and a release of the driver’s break, this toy can scoot around with rubber knobby tires.

This lineup of toy jeeps is extremely popular in Europe as well in the U.S. with cross-over appeal.  The folding windup and realism add to the desirability.  Windup action truly makes this a beloved toy find. – Fresh from a Florida estate.

Our working example of this Arnold jeep is in excellent all original condition with no restorations, repairs, or touch ups. This piece shows the usual patina, fading, dust, chips, scuffs, surface rust, scratches, and wear that are to be expected from age and display. This item is approximately 6 ¾” L x 3” W. We invite you to view the photos to further determine quality and condition.

A brief history of Arnold Co. of Nuremberg, Germany:

Active: 1906 to date
Founder: Karl Arnold
Specialty: Stationary steam accessories; nautical toys. Introduced “Rapido” gauge “N” model railroads in 1960s.

For those that don’t know, Karl Arnold was born in 1865 in Bavaria. Then at the age of 41 he founded the company for mechanical toys in Nuremberg (1906). There is a wonderful book entitled Arnold – The Toys from 1906 until 1965 that shows more on this German maker. I recommend Ulrich Schweizer’s book wholeheartedly, especially to the person that purchases this solid any of the iconic tin ships.
