Fleischmann Ocean Liner Tin Windup 1930

Note the wide smokestacks, Note the fatter hull, note all the extra parts.  This is a golden oldie!  Fleischmann took over for Carette and this toy shows all the hand working and love of Germany’s best toy makers.

The aft has an independent steersman’s enclosure.  The deck features a great winch and anchor. Portholes are brass and an expensive early feature.  The captains level is extra wide.

Condition is all original with dust and chips and honest wear.

Carette was in business from 1886 till 1917. Carette learned the making of fancy toy magic lanterns through visiting the factory of August Lapierre. Fleischmann took over the ship capacity and it appears many hulls were reused.

At the outbreak of World War I, Carette left Germany for Paris. His company was seized as alien property and ceased trading in 1917.
