The colors on these two horses are quite realistic and vibrant.  Our black horse is quite striking with the glossy black and white socks and nose stripe.

Condition on the black door stop (in solid cast iron) is good to very good, but there is wear from actually being used in a home.  The brown horse doorstop looks to be near new old stock as shown. Both horses were made by Hubley Toy company of Pennsylvania.

Believe it or not, this particular pair was photographed by a horse lover of the age of 11 and you can see the love in our photo composition.  Likewise, the new owner will love then and they will make a wonderful heirloom.

Hubley made these around 1946 and quite likely had them ready beforehand.  Metal, though, was earmarked for the war effort and the doorstops were shelved until after WW2.

Sculpting is not good, it is superb.  One can see tenons, ribs, and muscle.  Eyes pop with realism and tails have life.

Our cast iron horses were first molded in metal and filed smooth.   They were then primed in an off white to tan color, then painted.  Flourishes were added in white and black for the manes and spots.
