As you may already know, Ives ship toys sunk the formerly famous toy company.  The owner chose to do the Patriotic thing and push merchant marine related toys to young boys.  -Problem is, boys had different ideas and preferred better made boats that floated consistently and that were a bit less fragile.  So we have a footnote of a toy, a historic swan song.

This Ives Scout Patrol is a beauty with cream to white upper deck bridge and hull paint, accented with a deep maroon waterline and accent stripe.  Portholes are black.  Then a mustard yellow highlights decking and the other portion of the upper decking.  Every extra paint application is money and this must have cost a bundle to produce!

The toy comes with two delicate row boats, one of which has its nose loops broken off, so it wedges into the davits.

We feel that the toy is about 90% original but suspect a maroon infill around the prop, as the paint appears to us to have a blend.  It could be factory, but will error on the side of caution.  The windup cover has very heavy chipping and is warped.  Original box present with split corners and fragile condition.  No mast or key present, but the toy tested and ran.
