Early Ives U.S. Merchant Marine Tin Clockwork Ship 9”

Here we have a U.S Merchant Marine Ship with clockwork motor.

Hearing the name Ives will generally cause the collector’s neck hair to raise slightly. Considerably one of the most iconic and important manufacturers in American toy history, if you have an Ives (or two, or three) on your shelf is almost a necessity.

Here we have an example of on of their later tinplate ships, the 9” U.S. Merchant Marine, #6009. This ship was produced c. 1918-1921.

This particular ship shows its age with heavily flaked paint on the hull of the ship, heavy flaking on the deck paint. The boat is also missing the original masts. The Clockwork, however, remains strong.

This is a great way to get an (or another) Ives on your shelf, at a great price.
