Jones & Bixler Cast Iron Truck- Impressive Giant

Jones and Bixler toys trace back to the very early days of cast iron automotive toys.  Kenton later marketed some Jones & Bixler toys in their very early catalogs.

As such, this particular truck is steeped in early toy and early automotive history.  It has lamps, not headlights.  That should give an indication of its early 1900’s origin.

Our example is in a pale yellow with red highlighting.  The toy comes with its original driver, steering wheel, and tailgate.  The aft right stake area has a small repair from a crack; it is not apparent.

Jones & Bixler, Co. Freemansburg, Pennsylvania:

1899 – 1914

Founder: Charles A. Jones and Louis S. Bixler

Specialty: “Red Devil Line” of cast-iron auto toys (introduced in 1903, when J & B became part of National Novelty Corp.). From 1909-1913, J & B and Kenton Hardware (which also became part of National Novelty toy trust) produced toys that were indistinguishable from each other.
