Marklin Tin Ship for Norddetscher Lloyd, Bremen for Sale *SOLD*

Marklin tin ship for Norddetscher Lloyd of Bremen for sale

It is our pleasure to sell this gigantic advertising ship– This 37″ (plus) Marklin cruise ship commemorates the Norddetscher Lloyd company of Bremen.  It comes with the original ad stand and was produced by the Marklin company of Germany.

Our ship has a good amount of dust but appears to be original for the most part.  There is an aft American flag that is a likely replacement.  Then a few of the small row boats appear to be replacements, as the painting isn’t aged quite the same.

Our model is a twin prop and has an impressive bow and twin screws.  Anchors raise and lower using the two winches. Lifeboats dangle by the side and are likely (due to its manufacturing age) not enough for all the passengers aboard.  It is a bit eerie thinking of how safety standards aboard ships has changed.

Gold paint is used to highlight areas like he anchors.  Then the windows are drilled through and then covered with a clear material, giving a depth to the hull.

Norddeutscher Lloyd (NDL) (North German Lloyd) was a German shipping company. It was founded by Hermann Henrich Meier and Eduard Crüsemann in Bremen on 20 February 1857. It developed into one of the most important German shipping companies of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and was instrumental in the economic development of Bremen and Bremerhaven.
