Before there were jigsaw puzzles, there were scroll puzzles. Our McLoughlin Bros. of New York puzzle is a very early American paper lithograph toy a-la 1898. Love the cats!
Yes, the idea of Home was changed to a cat family. Then this toy comes with a box.
Box condition is very good to excellent. The puzzle is all there and a beautiful illustration!
A brief history of McLoughlin Brothers New York City, New York:
1850s – 1920
Specialty: Known early on for “revamping” popular European juvenile game, Mcloughlin also created such staples as “Pilgrims Progress”, “Fish Pond”, “Peter Coddle”, and “Jack Straws”. Lithograph paper-on-wood construction toys included the Palmer Cox Brownie series; also alphabet blocks and numerous educational toys.
