ALPS Japan Wind Up Celluloid Sonsco Rancher
ALPS is known by Japanese toy collectors for their HUGE catalog and wonderful variety in toys.
This particular toy is very colorful and good for a laugh. A rancher rides on back of his bucking horse, both entirely
celluloid. Out of the ranchers hand is raised a spinning tin lasso, which is affixed to the interior wind up
clockwork. The horse’s tail also spins as well.
When the toy is wound, the lasso causes the toy to spin about “bucking”, and will eventually fall
forwards on all fours and continue to spin.
The toy comes with its original box with equally pleasing artwork. The ALPS trademark and “Made in
Occupied Japan” marks are both found on the edges.
Toy is in excellent shape with minor scuffing from age. Tested and working well with healthy clockwork.
The box shows some moderate edge wear and slight discoloration, but displays nicely with the toy.
