American Boy Electric Speedboat Toy For Sale

We have unearthed that rarity not seen before– American Boy Electric Speedboat.  The maker is unknown, but it came from St. Petersburg, Florida, land of the post-war electric engineers.

The toy is in all original condition and comes with a stand.  Electronics have not been tested due to frayed battery leads.  We felt it needs an electric go-over by the right person.  -That, or left as is.

The toy was found with another and we can’t help but wonder if it was a design test.  This other toy was sold for similar money but in lesser condition and without a battery cover.  This boat is the best condition of the two, and we wonder if both were a proof of concept.

The hull and panels are stamped steel.  Paintwork and design appear to be from around the 40’s or 50’s.  Size is impressive at over 21″ in length.  The beam is quite wide to hold the gears and cam seen below the rear hatch.
