This antique ca. 1890’s tin paddle wheel boat was manufactured by E.F. Lefevre of France. This boat has a beautiful color scheme, the hull is done in green and black with red accent striping, yellow deck, and a single black funnel with red trim. The black paddle wheel covers add a luxurious touch to this highly detailed clockwork paddle boat.

This exact piece can be found on pg. 46 of The Dick Claus Collection: Nautical Toys & Boats Part I. The advertisement for this piece can be found on pg. 142 in Francois Theimer: Les catalogues d’Etrennes des Grands Magasins (French Christmas Catalogues) Tome 2 1877-1893.

Our example of this working E.F. Lefevre tin paddle wheel boat is in great condition with touch ups done to the sides of the black paddle wheel covers and a replaced funnel. This piece is in great overall condition for its age and shows the usual patina, chips, dust, scuffs, surface rust, scratches, and wear that are normally found with age and display.
