Antique Lead on Tin Platform German Hand Painted Soldier on Dog w/Trumpet

This piece is a little antique hand painted lead soldier with trumpet who is riding a dog in to battle on a tin wheeled platform. We were unable to ascertain the manufacturer of this item but it is very much like some that have been attributed to George Brown, Merriam Manufacturing Co., and Fallows. However, due to the lead used in this piece we believe it to be German.

Our example of this piece is in great all original condition with no restorations, repairs, or touch ups. We did notice the possibility of missing items coming out of the soldiers head and the dog’s mouth, however, since we cannot find another like it this may be part of the manufacturing process. The paint is in great overall condition with the usual patina, scratches, scuffs, surface rusting and chips that are seen with age and play. The whole toy is approximately 4” L x 5” H. We encourage you to examine the photographs to further determine condition and quality.
