Bing Werkes O Gauge “New York Central Lines” Cast Iron Electric Locomotive & Tin Lithographed Passenger & Caboose Cars Train Set

This is a highly detailed electric, cast iron locomotive #3238 with tin lithographed passenger train #2395 car & caboose #250 made by made by Gebrüder Bing/Bing Werkes of Nuremberg, Germany. The locomotive itself is made of cast iron and it is marked with the Bing Werkes logo on the bottom with “New York Central Lines”, “NYC & HR”, and “3238” on the sides. The passenger #2395 and caboose #250 cars are lithographed tin and are also marked with the Bing Werkes logo on the bottom with “New York Central Lines” on either side. The caboose says, “20th Century” on the back. The doors on both sides of the passenger car open and close smoothly and it is marked on the back “Bing Miniature Railroad System”. We do not have the proper electrical boxes to run this train or test the light on the front, but it appears to be in very great shape so we expect it to run properly.

Our example of this piece is in excellent all original condition with no breaks, restorations, repairs, or touch ups. This piece shows the usual patina, fading, dust, chips, scuffs, surface rust, scratches, and wear that are to be expected from age and play. The whole set together is approximately 24″ L. The locomotive is 8 ¾” L, with the passenger and caboose cars coming in at 6 ½” L each. We encourage you to examine the photographs to further determine condition and quality.

Bing Corp. was a spin-off of their German firm, Gebrüder Bing. The mainly served as jobber for their parent firm with mechanical boats, zeppelins, and steam engines. 

Gebrüder Bing Nuremberg, Germany 

Operated between 1866 – 1933 

Founded by: Brothers Ignatius and Adolph Bing 

Gebrüder Bing specialized in a wide-range of spring-driven toys, cars, buses, boats. Perhaps its biggest coup was a line of trains initiated in 1882. Bing went under during the crash of 1929; Karl Bub acquired the toy trains division and Fleischmann the toy boats.
