Fleischmann-Carette Battleship Tin Windup Boat For Sale.

This original find is new to market.  The original owner near the sea shore recently passed and family has consigned the toy with us.  It is an outstanding one owner toy. Length is approximately 21″ from bow to rear deck edge.

The ship is a very early model having traces of Carette heritage, which then became Fleischmann.  The model is the early and large, deluxe, battleship with moving guns, twin cranes, four life boats, and twin towers.

On our toy, you will see three of the four original lifeboats.  The twin cranes are seized in place as are about 30% of the side guns.  The main turrets on centerline rotate properly.  The smokestack is original but the second is not present (where the key goes).  One crows nest /mast is present and the lower part of the second is present.  Beneath the mast of the one present is a gun shell casing used to hold it (we can’t make up history like this up).  There are abrasions to where the gun shell was fitted to the mast bottom as pictured.

Paint is flaking on the hull and we are left with about 65-75 percent of the below waterline paint.  That is actually very good for this toy, as all examples we have previously seen are repainted.

The decking is done in brown and paintwork is curling at edges and flaking in parts. It was lightly dusted and stabilized.  Front chains and anchors are not present.

The windup works and would propel the battleship.

The stand is in good condition as is rudder and propellers.  The original flag is present and the original railing is in very good condition.

Note that some of the portholes are still present that used brass, an early production hallmark.

The American flag is complimented with a “Germany” tampo/stamping, indicating this as a US destined export.

We have the ability to put the buyer in contact with a smoke stack, tower, and anchor maker if needed.  Our decision was to leave the original toy as-is and present it as found.  The Family used it, enjoyed it, then have decided to adopt it out.
