Greppert & Kelch (G&K/GNK) Plastic Windup Bird and Fly German Toy with Box *SOLD*

Greppert & Kelch (G&K/GNK) Plastic Windup Bird and Fly German Toy with Box

This is a great, unique, vintage plastic windup bird and fly manufactured by Greppert & Kelch (G&K/GNK) of Brandenberg, Germany.

Once wound this cute little bird wobbles around while turning his head to try to look at the fly that has landed on his tail and stubbornly refuses to leave. The windup mechanism on this works and it comes with its original key. The box is in excellent near mint shape.

Our example of this Greppert & Kelch plastic windup bird is in excellent, near mint, all original condition with no breaks, restorations, repairs, or touch ups. This piece shows the usual patina, fading, dust, chips, scuffs, surface rust, scratches, and wear that are to be expected from age and display. It is approximately 5 ½” L x 2” W. We encourage you to examine the photographs to further determine condition and quality.

A brief history of Greppert & Kelch of Brandenberg, Germany:

In 1919 Greppert and Kelch founded Greppert & Kelch (G&K) in Wredowstrasse in Brandenburg, Germany. The mid-1920s appears to have been the height of their popularity when G & K took over Metz & Duncker” founded in 1892 and the firm “Tellus Works” founded in 1910. In addition to the logo “G & K” more and more toys became the brand” Gundka ” and “Gundka Werke” which was derived from the name of the founders Greppert and Kelch. In 1931, parts of Oro-Werke were taken over to add to the companies list of quality toy companies they absorbed. The company specialized in small lithographed tin mechanical toys.
