Cass Wooden Hiway Dump Truck *SOLD*

Cass Wooden Hiway Dump Truck

We love this Hiway Dump toy truck!  It is big, well-built, fun to play with, and exceptionally shaped. Enjoy the pictures of this truck even if it isn’t part of your normal collecting.

The size is approximately 16.5 inches.

We suspect it to be circa 1945.  It has 1930s design elements like separate headlights and more detail than 1950s versions.

The price was marked a hefty $1.89 on the bottom from the original retailer.

Cass is one of the oldest and most storied American toy makers.  They were from Massachusetts and survived past 2001.

Our truck has independent rear suspension/a pivot on each side.  It has a dump lifter lever.  It has a little man nestled in the cab.

The colors are bright and well-saturated.   Condition is excellent and original and it was well preserved in a dry environment.  The wheels are original too and in great shape.

A brief history of Cass Toys/N.D. Cass Company of Athol, Massachusetts:

Oldwood toys– “N. D. Cass Company

1898 – 2003

In their many years of business, they manufactured a wide range of products from large pianos and drums to a popular wooden toy line called “The Funny Face Family” of toys. In 1950, N.D. Cass Co purchased the Fred Langfelder Corporation of New Jersey taking N. D. Cass into manufacturing children’s pianos. In their later years, they specialized in chalkboards and children’s furniture. On May 16th, 1996, their warehouse burned to the ground. The blaze was so large that people had to be evacuated from their homes. Most of Cass’ toys are trucks and automobiles, but they did produce a few pull toys.”
