Hubley Fire Pumper- Diamond T *SOLD*

Hubley Fire Pumper- Diamond T for sale

We have a beautiful rarity to offer here– A Diamond T style Hubley cast iron fire pumper. It took quite a while to research this particular fire pumper variation, and in typical style, a toy veteran recognized the truck grill style.

In the 1936 Hubley Cast Iron Toys catalog  The 1936 Parade we see a number 614. Diamond T stake truck with very similar hood and grill looks.  Our 6.5″ pumper or Fire Engine would logically fit where the No. 504 engine is.  We surmise that mid year or in 1937 this Fire Pumper/Engine was substituted in since the grill was made in 1936 already.  It would be a  more “current” model than the number 504. [Please help us locate a 1937 Hubley Catalog, thanks!]

The Diamond T Motor Car Company was founded in Chicago in 1905 by C. A. Tilt. Reportedly, the company name was created when Tilt’s shoe-making father fashioned a logo featuring a big “T” (for Tilt, of course) framed by a diamond, which signified high quality.[1] From its beginnings manufacturing touring cars, the company later became known for its trucks.

Our toy is in very good to excellent condition for its age. There is some cast iron chipping and some corrosion as expected with age; it is minimal. Three of the four tires are original.

The drivers and grill really set this toy apart from others with the streamlined look and horizontal 1936-37 style grill and chrome hood emblem. As with the better Hubley pumpers, the top of the pumpers are beautiful chrome to accent the red.

Hubley made a beautiful variation with this chassis marked 2254.
