Hustler Toy Corp. Wooden Pull Toy Racecar with Man

We can call this Hustler toy a “gentleman’s car” and convertible.  In typical fun Hustler style the driver is a rounded impression of a man with high hat ready for action.

The car is designed as a pull toy and front steering can turn.  wheels have real rubber on them that is hardened with age.  Condition appears all original except a steering rod replacement.

A brief history of Frantz Manufacturing Company/Hustler Toy Corporation of Sterling, Illinois:

The Frantz Manufacturing Company was started in 1909 by Peter Frantz. In 1925, Hustler Toy Company was created as a subsidiary of Frantz Manufacturing, to implement this change, on some  toys they simply added new decals for Hustler and the decals of this period can be found with the Hustler decal over the Frantz logos. In the late 1920’s, they also took over the Toylander Corporation who was also manufacturing toys in Sterling, Illinois. The Hustler Toy Company stopped manufacturing toys in 1934, with the exception of roller skates that they produced until about 1970. Frantz is still in in business to this day but they no longer produce toys.
