Vintage Linemar Japanese Gold Tin Lithographed Space Style Friction Car

Our humble tin friction car is a well sculpted finned space car by Linemar of Japan. It features a good looking fin and chrome set of accessories.  The silver fins remind us of a pair of space rocket fins and the taillights of fire breathing rockets.

The gold has a great depth and gold flakes in lithos. This piece is in great all original condition with no restorations, repairs, or touch ups. The lithos are in good overall with the usual patina, scratches, scuffs and chips that are seen with age and play. The bottom is clean and bears the Linemar trademark and”Japan” stamped twice. The wheels are made of rubber and are still attached. The friction works but does require a push. The whole toy is approximately 6” in length. A brief history of Linemar, Japan:

Linemar was founded in the 1950’s as a manufacturing and import subsidiary of the successful American toy manufacturer Louis Marx & Company. Louis Marx and Co. was an American toy manufacturer in business from 1919 to 1980. Linemar toys was the trade name under which Marx toys were manufactured in Japan, then sold in the United States and other countries.
