Johann Hofler (JH) Tin Lithographed Windup “Kinderspielplatz” Babies on Playground German Toy 

This piece is a tin, lithographed, windup “Kinderspielplatz” babies on playground toy that was manufactured by Johann Hofler/Jean Hofler & Co. of Nuremberg. Germany.  

When wound with a key, this working example has two babies on a merry-go-round that goes around in a circle, one baby swings on a swing, and two babies go up and down on a seesaw with a ball that goes back and forth between them. The babies are made of a rubber or plastic and are original. The clockwork mechanism works well. The ball is not the original and is a clay marble that is similar in size to the original ball. The key is not original and is a Schuco key that works with this.

This piece is in great all original condition with no breaks, restorations, repairs, or touch ups. This piece shows the usual patina, fading, dust, chips, scuffs, surface rust, scratches, missing accessories and wear that are to be expected from age and display.
