Kilgore, Hubley/Arcade Cast Iron Dollhouse Tub, Toilet, & Highchair Furniture Set

We have a set of cast iron dollhouse furniture. We do know the toilet and the bathtub are made by Kilgore Manufacturing Company of Westerville, Ohio. We were unable to completely determine the maker of the highchair as it has no marks. We do believe it to be either Arcade or Hubley.

Cast iron furniture like this often falls below the radar for collectors. Doll collectors will enjoy these as will cast iron collectors, as they represent a by-gone era. The items in this collection are in good condition with fragile paint. It will want to chip off if not well cared for. All do this, as it wasn’t usually primed at the factory.

Our example of these cast iron dollhouse items are in great all original condition with no restorations, repairs, breaks or touch ups. These pieces show the usual patina, chips, scuffs, scratches, surface rusting and wear that are to be expected from age and play. The highchair is approximately 1 ½” L x 3 ¼” H, the toilet is approximately 1 ½” L x 1 ¼” H, and the bathtub is approximately 3 ¾” L x 1 ½” W x 1 ¼” H. Specialty: Originated in 1925 with the purchase of George D. Wanner Co., who made a brand of kites called “E-Z-Fly”. Its merger with Andes Foundry and the Federal Toy Co, in 1925 under the aegis of American Toy Co. In 1928, Kilgore introduced cast iron cars, trucks, and fire engines, including cast-iron cannons, cap guns, and toy paper caps. Butler Brothers became its biggest distributor. The company moved to Toone Tennessee in 1961 and remained in the cap gun and signal flare business until 1985.
