Lockheed P2V Neptune Navy Cdr. H.S. Potter VP-6 Wooden Desktop Model Airplane *SOLD*

Lockheed P2V Neptune Navy Cdr. H.S. Potter VP-6 Wooden Desktop Model Airplane

We have for you today a wooden desk top model of a Lockheed P2V Neptune (Tail Code: PC-1 131480) a plane used by the Navy patrol squadron VP-6. VP-6 was a long-lived Patrol Squadron of the U.S. Navy, nicknamed the Blue Sharks. The squadron had other names it went by, but it was designated to VP-6 on September 1, 1948 and wasn’t disestablished until May 31,1993.

This particularly plane we believed was the desktop model belonging to Commander Horace S. Potter, as his name is written on the side below the cockpit. Cdr. Potter had a long illustrious history with the Navy, but he eventually received orders to join VP-6 as the Executive Officer on September 3, 1963.

The Lockheed P2V was put in to use in 1947 and ceased being used by the military in 1984. This model is made of wood, with a wooden base. The maker is unknown, but this is a great little piece of history.

Our example of this Lockheed P2V Neptune desktop model is in great all original condition with no breaks, repairs, restorations or touch ups (other than those mentioned above). This piece shows the usual dust, fading patina, chips, scuffs, scratches, surface rusting and wear that are to be expected from age and play. The wingspan is approximately 16” L, while the body length is 14” L. We invite you to view the photos to further determine quality and condition.
