Nifty Toys Tin Baby Buttercup For Sale- Germany

Tin windup “Buttercup” is a comic character toy circa 1929.  This windup works and was made in Germany by Fisher on behalf of George Borgfeldt & Co. of Nifty Toys .

Buttercup works with knees and arms alternating a crawling action.  The head oscillates right and left as buttercup walks.

The toy is well restored with some simulated aging.  All original examples known have lost their paint, as primer wasn’t used, and the metal must have had some oils on it.

Catch Buttercup while you can, it is one rare toy!

Buttercup was part of  Toots and Casper was a long-running family Comic Strip created by cartoonist Jimmy Murphy and distributed by King Features Syndicate, running between December 17, 1918 and December 30, 1956.
