Rare Liberty Playthings Windup Wooden “Sea Gull” Speed Race Boat with Stand

We have for you an extremely rare Liberty Playthings windup clockwork “Sea Gull” racing speed boat made of wood and manufactured in Niagara Falls, New York USA circa early 1930’s. This estate find is in all original condition. As with toys of this age there is some wear due to age and play. The windup on this has a dedicated key and when wound the clockwork mechanism works great. The decals are in great shape however one side has part of the “Sea Gull” decal missing. The stand is included. The speed boat is approximately 14 ½” long.  This beautiful high quality boat is very desirable among collectors and rarely seen for sale.

What little history we could find on Liberty Playthings is that they were in business from the late 1920’s to early 1930’s. It was located in Niagara Falls in New York, USA. For the short time that they were in business they made quality clockwork wooden boats often made from mahogany with metal.
