This is a ca. 1940s origi9nal, tin, lithographed, windup “Motodrill 1006” motorcycle that was manufactured by Schuco of Nuremberg, Germany.  

When wound with its key the clockwork mechanism works well. 

This piece is in very good all original condition with no breaks, restorations, repairs, or touch ups. This piece shows the usual patina, fading, dust, chips, scuffs, surface rust, scratches, missing accessories and wear that is to be expected from age and play. This is approximately 5″ L.  A brief history of Schuco/Schuco Toy Co. of Nuremberg, Germany:

Schuco was started in Nuremberg Germany in 1912 when Heinrich Muller and Heinrich Schreyer formed the toy company Schreyer & Co. In 1921 it became known simply as Schuco. Schuco’s first tin toy appeared in the mid 1930’s when it introduced the Schuco Patent Motor Car.

Specialty: Mohair-covered mechanical toys. An independent Schuco Toy Co. with import rights to the German toys was formed in the U.S. in 1947 by Adolf Kahn`s son, Eric ( following WW1 Schreyer Muller formed a new partnership with Kahn). Schuco declared bankruptcy in 1976.
