Vintage Kyodo/Kyodo Press (KDP) Winner 23 Battery Operated Rocket Ship Japan Tin Lithographed Space Toy

We have for you a vintage, tin, windup, lithographed “Winner 23” battery operated rocket ship manufactured by Kyodo/Kyodo Press (KDP) of Japan.

This is an early tin lithographed rocket ship in red and yellow. It is battery operated using a 1.5V battery. We tested this and it does work as it should. It is marked “Winner-23” along the wings on both sides as well as “Winner” on the tail and “23” on the body. The lithographed pilot usually is covered by a plastic canopy, but due to age these tend to yellow and crumble; as such ours does not have the plastic canopy over the pilot. The battery compartment is clean with no corrosion.

Our example of this Kyodo/Kyodo Press (KDP) “Winner-23” spaceship is in great original condition with no restorations, repairs, breaks or touch ups. This piece shows the usual patina, dust, chips, scuffs, surface rust, scratches, and wear that are to be expected from age and play. It is approximately 5 ¼” L.
