Weeden Manufacturing Co. 17″ Standard Steamboat No. 2 *SOLD*

Weeden Manufacturing Co. 17″ Standard Steamboat No. 2

This is a 17” No. 2 standard steamboat manufactured by Weeden Manufacturing Co. of New Bedford, Massachusetts.

We did not fire this engine up, but the pistons and the flywheel spin and move as expected and operate smoothly by hand. The coupler for the piston and flywheel is missing. The pipe appears to have been resoldered back to the boiler. The original cork is still intact. The decal is in excellent condition with the usual scratches, cracking and chipping we often see with honest play wear.

The Weeden standard steamboat no. 2 was introduced in 1918 and continued production into the 1930’s. There were two models made of this ship, one was the 14 ½” no. 1 standard steamboat and the other was the 17” no. 2 standard steamboat.

Our example of this Weeden 17” No. 2 standard steamboat is in great all original condition with no breaks, restorations, or touch ups. This piece shows the usual patina, fading, dust, chips, scuffs, surface rust, scratches, and wear that are to be expected from age and play. It is approximately 17” L with a 4” boiler. This would be a great and impressive addition to any collection. We invite you to view the photos to further determine quality and condition.
