Prewar Japanese Turret Truck Windup

This prewar truck is almost a tank, but not.  We are calling it an armored truck or turret truck.  The toy is an incredibly rare survivor of the pre-war Japanese toy industry.  This vehicle was made by Kuramochi as marked on the back.

Our turret truck windup works well but isn’t like a precise German windup.  It is a bit temperamental, as it was never a precision toy.  The toy is a tin toy windup and has an almost hand made quality to the entire toy; it is primitive.  There is aging as shown so colors have a nice vintage patina.

Japanese toys like this are so very hard to find due to World War 2 as well as the Japanese culture.  During the war most all metal objects, like in the US, were recycled for the war effort.  Then unlike the in the United States, Japanese people have much tighter living spaces and tend to just throw out old times.  Culturally old items, even computers, are thrown out without much thought.  They don’t tend to have barns or extra basement space.
