Citroen AC4 tin windup for sale

Very detailed tin pressing with heavy features.  The toy car features articulated steering as well as rubber tires and deluxe paint work.

Size is just under 13″ long.

Our example appears to have original paint.  There is light crazing due to age throughout.  The left edge above the doors have a heavier cracklature above the top door edge.  Lights are dummy lights and with natural metal rims and insides, with yellowed lenses.   Rear Trunk has hand painted red dots for the tail lights.  No license plate present.

No key is present and we do not see a connecting rod for the action lever.  Hand turning the windup works the rear wheels.

Left door operates with a door handle.  Black tin seats are deeply drawn for realistic contours; they are painted in black.  Rubber tires are labeled “Superconfort Michelin PNEU” and “France”.  Bottom has a faint white tempo stamping of “Automobile Mechanio Are Citroen, Made in France”.  We see an inconsistent semi-gloss black finish on the base and feel it was likely chipped off (as most do) and then repainted in black, leaving the original label alone.  Upper body brown and mahogany appear to be in very good original condition; possibly with an expert blend we can’ pick up, so is likely 90%+ original.  Black running board tops we suspect were blended when the lower black underside was restored.  Overall, this is largely original with expert preservation/blending on the black.

Front grill is a beautiful deeply drawn metal pressing with iconic Citroen chevrons.

Picky comments aside, we have a beautiful piece of art.  This is a large scale and very early tin toy that has a stately presence, and deluxe three tone paint job.  It should be treasured and these flaws are typical for toys that are near 90 years in age.  In fact, this one looks better than most all we have seen.
