Vintage VeBe French Pressed Steel Tin Windup Fire Engine Ladder Truck w/Lights

This is quite an impressive thick tin plate French toy, post World War 2, that seems to do it all.  It has plaster original figures, a turning steering wheel and tires, extending ladder, battery compartment for lights, plus the doors open too. The light bulbs are present, but we were unable to test it due to the type of batteries it takes. The emblem is on the front and even the grill has beautiful details, reminding us of a Dodge truck.

Condition of the toy is excellent with original riders and detailed driver.  The aft ladder mechanism may be missing a post that secures it to the crank mechanism.  We aren’t familiar with this toy, but the next owner will likely need a metal piece connecting to the ladder.  Other Vebe firetrucks we have seen have this same issue; possibly the metal was flimsy when new.

There is even a nice French shield sticker on the doors.  Figures appear hand painted and detailed with quite few colors. It is approximately 16″ in length.

VeBe is short for Victor Bennet of France, an early toy company of the 1910’s-50’s and it has an affiliation with JEP (Jouet de Paris) in later years.
