Vintage J. Chein #3 Race Car ca. 1925 Windup Tin Car for Sale *SOLD*

Vintage J. Chein #3 Race Car ca. 1925 Wind-Up Tin Toy

We have a vintage J. Chein #3 orange race car windup tin toy that features colorful lithography of a highly desirable hunched over 1920’s style race car driver and red details. This is one of the earlier models which has the hub caps printed slightly off-center. The car has a built-in wind-up mechanism with a dedicated key on its passenger side. This piece is marked “J. Chein & Co. Made in USA” on its side. When the key is wound and you set it down it drives forward. The windup mechanism works well. The wheels are a bit loose and wobbly, which is to be expected with most tin vehicle. The lithos are very strong overall with the usual patina, scratches, scuffs and chips that are seen with age and play. The car is approximately 6 ¼’ in length. We encourage you to examine the photographs to get a better idea of condition and quality.
