This is a set of 2 #1811 American Pencil Co., ca. 1933 Felix the Cat pencil cases with a tin saving bank, pencils, pens, crayons, a 1932 State Board of Health Missouri pin, and a ruler.

It’s unclear what items originally came with the cases. Both show signs of use and wear from years of enjoyment, but remain great pieces for any Felix collector. Each measures approximately 8½” L x 5½” W x ½” H. Comes as shown.

A brief history of American Pencil Co. of Jersey City Heights, New Jersey: 

1861 – 1956

Founder: Edward Weissenborn

American Pencil Co. was a leading manufacturer and supplier of pencils and writing instruments. Its origins trace back to 1860, when Edward Weissenborn established a pencil factory in Jersey City Heights, New Jersey, under the name American Lead Pencil Company. The company was sold to the Reckford family in 1885, and by 1915, its New Jersey factories employed over 2,000 people. American Pencil Co. produced copying, indelible, and woodcase graphite pencils, as well as erasers and other writing accessories. In 1956, the company became Venus Pen and Pencil Corp., later Eagle Pencil Co., then Berol Pencil Co., and eventually merged into Sanford Corp.
