Early Airplane Aeroplay Toy found- Halsam Toys

We enjoy readers bringing us new-to-us historic items.  We know of early aviation toys, but did not know Halsam made an airplane set.  How wonderful!

Pictures below are of a very early, circa 1916, toy build set from Halsam.  It appears everything is complete and details are shown below.  It has a “revolving propeller”, a novelty to terrestrials.

Kids had instruction “pictures” as well as an advertising catalog.  They were to build up the toy, then string up the “wings” and support structure.  Makers gave kids a patriotic U.S. air set of paper insignias to add on later.  This set us unused.

Thank you to the family that shared this Aeroplay Number 50 set with us!
