Cast Iron Toys
Cast Iron Toys
Cast iron toys are made from steel that is molten and often poured into sand castings. These toys come from cast parts that are usually riveted or bolted together. Early cast iron toys were brittle, but then latter the steel was more mild or elastic to withstand kid play. Many of these cast iron toys have chipped paint, but that is part of the game, as they just chipped when clanked together, shipped, or even when sitting. Most didn’t come with primer. Imperfections aside, these deserve to be held in person to fully appreciate cast iron toy art.
