This is an adorable ca. 1925 tin lithographed Ferris wheel steam toy accessory made by Wilhelm Krauss (W.K) of Nuremberg, Germany. This was purchased from the Morton A. Hirschberg collection. This steam toy ca. 1925 can be found in Morton A. Hirschberg’s Steam Toys: A Symphony in Motion on pg. 179

This is a tin steam toy accessory Ferris wheel complete with 4 gondolas. The gondolas orange curved body with a yellow base. The lithos show, green curtains, with yellow scrollwork with a red and green base. It shows a girl in a red and white dress and hat, and what appears to be a boy in a blue sailor outfit. The gondolas are marked on one side with “Made in Germany” on the top and “KW” on the side panel. The wheel itself is orange and white, while the supports are blue. The base is stamped “Made in Germany.”

Our example of this Wilhelm Krauss Ferris wheel is in great all original condition with no breaks, restorations, repairs, or touch ups. The lithos are in great overall condition for a toy of this age. This piece shows the usual patina, dust, chips, scuffs, surface rust, scratches, and wear that are to be expected from age and play.
