Rare Bandai Isetta Friction Tin Car 588 Japan

The Bandai Isetta is simply one of those unusual Tin cars that most collectors just need to have on their shelf.

The whimsical looking BMW Isetta 700 has a large front mounted door which opens to reveal a “spacious” compartment with lithographed bench seat and plastic steering wheel.

The car has a red frame base with white top and door, accented by chromed bumpers/window frames/hubcaps. The underside is also detailed in litho as well. There is some very light scratching and small spots of discoloration across the body.  The original plastic windows have some dust from storage.

The rubber wheels are in good shape with some light wear.  A healthy friction motor powers the rear wheels. Undercarriage and rims show light scratching.

The toy comes with its original Box marked with the catalog number, 588.  Interestingly, there is also the original retailer’s price sticker on one side: “F.W. Woolworth Co. 88¢”.  some mild edge wear is visible along with some creasing and a few punctures on the top.
