Carpenter Cast Iron Fire Patrol Horse Drawn Wagon *Museum Placement-SOLD*

This sculptural cast iron toy traces back in time to around 1885, and is cataloged as No. 55.  Condition is original with play wear and the toy comes with its original box.

The carpenter cam system was patented in 1881 and 1883, and it rocks the horses gracefully as the toy rolls.  Carpenter’s patent does a superb job in transferring weight into the wheels to get excellent traction.

Details on this toy include extremely fine pin striping and flourishes on the yellow framework.  Then we have canisters on the rear of the patrol and raised lettering on the wagon side.
