Yonezawa Champions Racer Tin Car *SOLD*

Champions Racer tin car by Yonezawa

There are tin cars, then there are TIN cars.  Our Yonezawa racer is about 18″ in length which is an absolute giant.  The toy is incredibly detailed and a tour-de-force of Japanese post-war lithography.

Tires are rubber and the drivetrain has steel and chrome plating mixed throughout.  Wheel knockoffs are most likely aluminum.

Condition on this toy is original, but with red paint touchups to the side of the front bumper areas; it was scratched when the front bumper was played with.  Then we detect very small paint enhancements in the back about the size of two pennies.  The driver’s helmet has a very small paint touchup too.

Tires are original and the bottom is all original.  This was an adults collectible most all its life. Condition is incredible for the car’s age.

Yonezawa Toys was one of Japan’s largest and most prodigious post-war toy manufacturers and an early participant in the growing radio control market. They branded as Yone also or simply Y.

The company was founded in the 1950s in Tokyo and focused on the production of literally thousands of different electrically operated and mechanical toys through the early 1970s. Some were branded not as Yonezawa but as STS. It is unclear as to the origin of the STS label, but it is presumed to be that of an importer.
