CKO German Tin Limousine Penny Toy *SOLD*

CKO German Tin Limousine Penny Toy For Sale

This true penny toy from about the 1920’s has no frills.  It is a strong statement to the post World War 1 recovery life in Germany.  The toy  industry catered to people’s budgets and it was low, hence the nick-name of penny toys.

CKO or Kellerman toys like this used absolutely dazzling colors and gloss to hide the fact that they were just a few pieces of tin.  Wheels were stamped en mass and bodies were made by the hundreds (per day).  They were machine bent toys and often required just a touch of labour for the wheels.

In the end, it is a beautiful toy but as simple as it gets.  Our original CKO limousine has no wind up, no flywheel, no driver; it is a bare bones fun thing.  This toy came from a Kansas area estate and appears to be near new old stock.  There is some oxidation on the raw metal beneath the car as expected (unfinished to save cost).  Wheels are very clean and roll.
