Durable Toys Duracolor Popeye Uncle Sam’s Projector and the Durotone Talkie System Kit from FAO Schwarz *SOLD*

Durable Toys Duracolor Popeye Uncle Sam’s Projector and the Durotone Talkie System Kit from FAO Schwarz

Our film kit is a prize and an extremely expensive toy from FAO Schwarz.   This kit was designed to be both a projector and a “tracing kit” with a tripod.  Projection was designed to go along with record playing, and this kit has the optional record player and speaker.

The toy is original with most of the original box in well-worn condition and fragile.  The box holds the trace kit with a tripod and needles.

It comes with some Durotone records for some of the Duracolor Films.

The projector has not been tested, as the cord rubber came apart with age.  The cord end is present for someone to rewire.

The set comes with an entire set of popeye “films” of a pliable fiber and paper design.  Color is vibrant.  Each one of these movies is a treasure for Popeye lovers.

We have for you a ca. 1930s, very hard to find (in any condition) store display set of “Duracolor Films” set #50 animated Popeye the Sailor films for use with the Uncle Sam’s Projector and the Durotone Talkie System that was manufactured by the Durable Toy & Novelty Company of Cleveland, Ohio/New York City, New York.

This is a complete in box no. 50 set of Popeye animated films (no sound). The boxes are in great condition and all films are included. The standing part of the box is reinforced with a piece of cardboard to keep it from bending and tearing.

This set includes:

  • Pop Eye in A Dream Walking
  • Pop Eye in The Man on the Flying Trapeze
  • Pop Eye in Love’s Labor Won
  • Pop Eye Desert Isle
  • Pop Eye in The Hero
  • Pop Eye in The Duck Hunt

A second complete set of films is present of Tom Mix.  Tom was a contemporary of Popeye and a cowboy & gunfighter.
