F.W. Carpenter ca. 1880’s Cast Iron No. 555 “Tally-Ho Coach” Horse Drawn Wagon 

We have for you this big beautiful ca. 1880’s cast iron No. 555 “Tally-Ho Coach” horse-drawn party wagon that was manufactured by Francis W. Carpenter of Port Chester, New York. 

This piece is the piece to own. Before there was a party bus, there was the party wagon! This wagon comes with 2 sets of galloping horses. The 6 figures have been repainted. The front half of the running gear has been professionally repainted. The trees are intact and the lanterns are present.  Tally-Ho!! 

For its age, this piece is in great condition. This piece shows the usual patina, fading, dust, chips, scuffs, surface rust, scratches, missing accessories, and wear that are to be expected from age and play. A brief history of Francis W. Carpenter of Port Chester, New York:  

Carpenter’s company was founded in 1880 in Port Chester, New York by Francis W. Carpenter (F.W. Carpenter). They specialized in cast iron, horse-drawn vehicles. These Toys included what many collectors view as the crème de la crème, the “Tally-Ho Coach”.  

Carpenter was in business until about 1890 when they sold their patent rights and inventory to Pratt & Letchworth.
