Garod “Commander” Model 6AU-1 Art Deco Style Catalin/Bakelite AM Tube Radio in Butterscotch & Red

This is beautiful butterscotch with red highlight model 6AU-1 “Commander” tube radio made by Garod.  Manufacturing date is post-war, likely around 1948 and the grill looks the like beautiful cars of the era- design streamlined and glossy.

This a beautiful estate find with no cracks, chips, or reproduction parts. Case faces look very clean with no breaks or cracks detected.  It looks like fossilized amber and has a great translucence to it depending on the ambient light. We were able to get it to play one station with some static in the background. We did not try to repair it, but we will leave it to whoever gets this beautiful piece to their collection.
