Gebrüder Bing ca. 1912 Horizontal Steam Engine #130/541 Dynamo Plant with Electric Light German Toy *SOLD*

Gebrüder Bing ca. 1912 Horizontal Steam Engine #130/541 Dynamo Plant with Electric Light

This is a really interesting ca. 1912 horizontal steam #130/541 Dynamo plant with electric lights on wood plinth and with hand painted and lithographed detail steam toy that was manufactured by Gebrüder Bing of Nuremberg, Germany.

This beautiful Bing engine comes with a 2-wick burner and is in original condition. The water gauge is intact, tank filler cap is there, it has pivoting handles, and piston switches that work up and down. We did not try to run it; however, it looks ready for action after a proper inspection. This engine is quite a desirable one because of the multi-colored tiled base. It is nailed onto a wooden plinth and sets off the toy with a beautiful backdrop.

“Absolutely reliable. Large Capacity with fine blue oxidized brass boiler, fixed cylinder, with tubular slide valve. Dynamo (can be disconnected), 1 electric lamp (4 volt) on nickelled stand, switch and 2 pole clamps, so that current can be used for other purposes, mounted o fine wooden base, with coloured metal plate (imitation tiles). Capacity of Dynamo 4 Volt, 0,25 Amperes.”

Our example of this Bing horizontal steam engine with dynamos that generate electric light is in great all original condition with no breaks, restorations, repairs, or touch ups. This piece shows the usual patina, fading, dust, chips, scuffs, surface rust, scratches, and wear that are to be expected from age and play. The whole toy is approximately 13 ½” H to the top of the chimney, the boiler is 5 7/8” L, the boilers diameter is 2 1/8”, with the base being 11” L x 9 3/8” W. We encourage you to examine the photographs to further determine condition and quality.
