German Tin Ship Toy For Sale, early 1900s *SOLD*

German Tin Ship Toy For Sale, early 1900s

Our very early tin ship is a monster that came from the Northeastern US.  We speculate that it was made by a toy company like Schoenner but for an actual ship that was used around World War 1.  It appears to have Schoenner stern features as well as smoke stack details and their portholes.

Note the Size– 64″ long!  Five Foot Four inches long!  It is size of my wife for comparison.

This speculation aside, it is what it is, a Five foot long model with a power shaft and massive propeller.  The top deck can disengage in three pieces and then there are covers/access points for any steam toy details inside.  At this point it is a beautiful relic and is in the entry hall of Antiquetoys.com.  It can be adopted out or remain here; we are trying to be good and not keep it.

The decking is wood.  The hull is hand soldered pieces of tin for shaping and getting the beautiful curves, likely to scale.  Upper decking is all tin with brass portholes.

One observer thought it had a Bing ship set of details, and we have also noted some brass detailing that reminds us of early Stevens Dockyard toys/models (but Stevens appears to have just worked with wood hulls).

In our final set of photos, we have added a tape measurer to show size (its so massive, you can barely make out the numbers), and then items for scale like a martini shaker and a Brittians style indian figure.

This is truly a one of a kind antique survivor of over 100 years and a piece of art as well as former big kids toy.

Note that shipping arrangements will have to be discussed.  For now we have a modest shipping charge.
