KT Occupied Japan (OJ) Celluloid Windup “The Obstinate Donkey” Circus Clown Toy for Sale
KT Occupied Japan (OJ) Celluloid Windup “The Obstinate Donkey” Circus Clown Toy
Our cute toy features a donkey flipping around a donkey by his tail. It is a boxed and original celluloid toy, likely from post-war, Occupied Japan. We believe it is “The Obstinate Donkey” by the manufacturer KT of Japan.
The colorful toy is extremely bright and in pristine color condition. Pinks, reds, and accent colors pop. The original box is in over C-8 out of 10 condition conservatively with the paper label missing.
OJ or Occupied Japan toys are a challenge to find in great condition. They are quite fragile and often used up. We show a ton of pictures, but do not see dents on it. The windup is incredibly weak and we will list it as not working. We wound it up and could only get it to work by assisting the clown. It wagged back and forth only with assistance. The original key is included.
Note– Occupied Japan was printed on pottery, porcelain, some toys, and other goods made during the American occupation of Japan after World War II, from 1947 to 1952. Collectors now search for these pieces. The items were made for export.
This piece is in great all original condition with no breaks, restorations, repairs, or touch-ups. This piece shows the usual patina, fading, dust, chips, scuffs, surface rust, scratches, missing accessories, and wear that are to be expected from age and play. We invite you to view the photos to further determine quality and condition.
