Memo Rare S.N.C.F Pacific Type 602 Steam Locomotive French Tin Lithographed Windup Toy Train for Sale
Memo Rare S.N.C.F Pacific Type 602 Steam Locomotive French Tin Lithographed Windup Toy Train
We have for you an all original, rare S.N.C.F #602 tin, windup, steam locomotive model train manufactured by the Memo of France.
This model of the #602 is the rarer and larger version of this Pacific type tin, lithographed, windup steam locomotive. These models were sold loose and more than likely sold without a box. This floor train when wound with its dedicated key runs forward on a flat surface. Ours has been tested and runs, but with a little encouragement. We found the gears to stick a bit, which often happens with these fragile tin toys.
Founded in 1938, the S.N.C.F. is the Société nationale des chemins de fer français (SNCF, “French National Railway Company”) and is France’s national state-owned railway company which operates almost all of France’s railway traffic, including the TGV (Train à Grande Vitesse, meaning “high-speed train”).
Our example of this Memo tin windup train is in excellent all original condition with no breaks, restorations, repairs, or touch ups. This piece shows the usual patina, fading, dust, chips, scuffs, surface rust, scratches, and wear that are to be expected from age and play. It is approximately 10 ¾” L. We invite you to view the photos to further determine quality and condition.
