Popy Toys Zero Tester Base, PLA-DX Japanese Toy *SOLD*

Popy Toys Zero Tester Base, PLA-DX Japanese toy for sale

For most US toy buyers, this toy is all Greek, i.e. it is incredibly difficult to understand and appreciate.  -So we will break things down– Thunderbirds by Jerry Andersen was a giant hit in the 1960’s and so the Japanese live action/puppet thirst was there.  This Space toy came from the series “Zero Tester” and similarly used space, bases, spaceships, and characters.

Our base toy is near new old stock and it has two hidden missile launchers.  One comes by pulling a lever to the side and opening the volcano.  The other firing missile comes from flipping up the rocky landscape.

The base comes on a stand and can be connected to other Deluxe Plastic toys from the same series.  Inside the box are space tubes/flexible tubes to connect the toys together.

The box is well worn and has two splits, but is still in very good condition.  The toy comes with inserts and appears to be unplayed with.  There are small scuffs on the base and colors are still very bright.

Note that Popy Toys of Japan started as a subsidiary of Bandai in about 1972, so this represents one of the earliest toys in a deluxe form with a potential to transform (although this is a crude change).  It has a similar feel to a Gatchaman base as well as a speed racer base. -Familiar Japanese base themes to come.
