A brief history of Reil & Co of Brandenburg, Germany:
Reil & Metz was founded in 1882 by Fritz Reil & Johannes Metz in Brandenburg, Germany. Around 1892, Reil & Metz became the two separate companies of Metz & Duncker and Reil & Co. With Johannes Metz going his own way, Waldemar Blechschmidt joined in a partnership with Fritz Reil to become Reil & Co.
In 1908, George Muller joined the company and Reil & Co. became Oro with both companies under the majority ownership by Fritz Reil. In 1913, Blechschmidt left the company but it continued on until 1931 when a world-wide depression caused them to cease production.
There is evidence that the company was absorbed in to Gundka (G & K) or its successor United Plate Toy Factories. These companies all seem to intermingle in interesting and confusing ways which may be why it is so hard to find a lot on this particular company.
