Toy Hauler by Wyandotte- Pressed Steel Car Hauler

Every now and then the story behind a toy (or Toy Hauler here) is as incredible as the toy itself.  Here we have an early Car Hauler by Wyandotte.  It was an attic find, found by a roofer as he tore down a home.  In this case, the parents of some unfortunate kid lost a mint in box toy between two walls.

This gem came from the deep south and was found under dust and an aged box.  Here the box has been preserved, or what’s left, in order to better tell the story.

Measures 9 1/4″ long x 2″ tall (not including the cars) x 2 1/8″ wide

Wyandotte toy haulers are normally much larger.  However here, we get all the hauler goodness in a 7″-8″ package that fits neatly next to a keyboard.  The two cars, which are 90% of the time missing, fit either below the top deck or fit on top.  They are nameless yellow sedans that harken back to the days of Dick Tracey streamlined autos.

The streamlined hauler comes in a beautiful red cab, blue and yellow trailer package.  The bright yellow cars complement the toy perfectly.

Note some interesting features of this nearly new old stock toy– the paint job was a dip & you can see some small runs and imperfections.  This was factory correct.  Also, you an see some fine parallel lines where the toy metal went on a “break” in order to form it.   The paint has thicker and thiner spots of coverage, as it was a drip dried toy.  -Something to note in case you need to authenticate a toy or note a restoration.
