Woodettes Inc. Pressed Steel “Woodette Coast Guard” Pull Toy Row Boat OOAK Popeye Themed Piece 

This is a pressed steel “Woodette Coast Guard” pull toy rowboat with a wooden Popeye themed sailor that is a one-of-a-kind piece from the Lonnie Dossett estate that was manufactured by Woodette’s Merchandise Mart of Chicago, Illinois.  

This piece is a fantasy piece, in that the owner took the original toy and added to it to make it Popeye themed. This is made of a 20-gauge steel boat, baked enamel finish, plastic oars, steel gears and axles, rubber wheels, Woodette Sailor turned Popeye. Popeye moves the oars as this is pulled forward. The boat, decal, oars, and the sailor are original. However, the face has been repainted Popeye style with a wood pipe and Popeye’s iconic anchors added to each sleeve. The black rubber tires are still intact, but as per usual with toys of this age, they may have petrified, discolored, warped, and/or cracked. We did not notice any issues with the tires. We are unsure if the pull cord and knob are original. This piece is a great piece for the Popeye collector. 

This piece shows the usual patina, fading, dust, chips, scuffs, surface rust, scratches, missing accessories, and wear that are to be expected from age and play. This is approximately 12″ L. We encourage you to examine the photographs to further determine condition and quality.
